Ceramic & Zirconia Crowns in Cairo and Giza: Types, Lifespan and Cost
A dental crown is a tooth-shaped cap that covers and protects a damaged tooth. Modern crowns are metal-free, strong and natural-looking. At First Dental Center our prosthodontists and cosmetic dentists place ceramic and zirconia crowns at our branches in Sheikh Zayed (serving 6th of October), New Giza, Zamalek and Maadi.
When do you need a crown?
A tooth that is cracked, broken or badly worn
A tooth with a very large filling
After root canal treatment, to protect the tooth from breaking
To restore a dental implant
To improve the shape or colour of a tooth that veneers cannot fix
Types of crowns we offer
Zirconia crowns
Zirconia is a very strong ceramic. It suits back teeth that take heavy chewing forces and patients who grind their teeth. Layered or high-translucency zirconia can also look natural on front teeth.
E-max (lithium disilicate) crowns
E-max crowns are prized for their translucency and lifelike look, which makes them a popular choice for front teeth and smile makeovers.
Same-day ceramic crowns
For many single teeth we can scan, design, mill and fit a ceramic crown in one visit, with no temporary crown. Learn about same-day crowns.
Porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns
An older option that is still strong, but the metal can show as a grey line at the gum over time. Most patients now choose metal-free crowns.
How long do crowns last?
With good brushing, flossing and regular check-ups, a well-made ceramic or zirconia crown commonly lasts 10 to 15 years or longer. Grinding, hard foods and gum disease shorten their life, so we may recommend a night guard if you grind.
The crown treatment, step by step
Examination and X-ray, including 3D imaging when needed
Shaping the tooth and taking a digital scan
Choosing the shade to match your natural teeth
Fitting the final crown, either the same day or after a short lab stage
How much does a crown cost in Egypt?
The price depends on the material, whether the tooth needs root canal treatment or a post first, and whether it is a single tooth or part of a bridge. We give you a written treatment plan and price after your examination. Call 16329 to book.
Frequently asked questions
Zirconia or E-max: which is better?
Zirconia is stronger and better for back teeth and grinders; E-max is usually more natural-looking for front teeth. Your dentist will recommend the best option for each tooth.
Does getting a crown hurt?
The tooth is numbed with local anaesthetic, so most patients feel only pressure. Some sensitivity for a few days afterwards is normal.
